NSE IPO Opens at ₹22,569 Crore as Investors Weigh Valuation and Market Outlook
MUMBAI: The NSE IPO 2026 opened for public subscription on Thursday, September 17, putting one of India’s largest stock exchanges on course for its long-awaited entry into the listed market. The issue is valued at about ₹22,569 crore at the upper end of its price band of ₹1,700-₹1,785 per share. The subscription window will remain open until September 21.
NSE IPO opens for subscription
The National Stock Exchange IPO subscription is entirely an offer for sale, with existing shareholders offering 12.64 crore shares. NSE itself will not receive proceeds from the transaction because there is no fresh issue component. At the upper price band, the precise issue value is about ₹22,561.57 crore.
The IPO has a price band of ₹1,700 to ₹1,785 per share and a lot size of eight shares. A retail investor applying at the upper end would therefore need ₹14,280 for one lot.
Investors assess a landmark valuation
The NSE IPO 2026 values the exchange at roughly ₹4.42 lakh crore at the upper price band, making the issue one of the largest offerings in India’s primary market. The size and valuation have made the offering a major focus for institutional and retail investors.
According to Reuters, the IPO had attracted bids equivalent to 0.09 times the shares on offer early on Thursday. NSE had also raised about $703 million through its anchor allocation before the public issue opened.
The National Stock Exchange IPO subscription is therefore being closely monitored as investors assess whether the valuation adequately reflects NSE’s earnings, market position and future growth prospects.
Derivatives remain a key issue
A central consideration surrounding the NSE IPO 2026 is the exchange’s heavy exposure to derivatives trading. NSE remains a dominant venue for equity derivatives, making trading activity and regulatory changes important factors for its future revenue growth.
Investors are consequently weighing the exchange’s strong market position against questions surrounding derivatives volumes, regulatory developments and the sustainability of trading activity.
The wider IPO market has also remained an important focus for Dalal Street as large public offerings continue to attract investor attention.
Subscription runs until September 21
The National Stock Exchange IPO subscription will remain open through September 21, giving investors several sessions to place bids. Anchor investors were allocated shares on September 16, ahead of the public opening.
Market participants will be watching subscription levels across retail, non-institutional and qualified institutional investor categories as the offering progresses.
The NSE IPO 2026 is also significant because NSE has remained one of the world’s largest derivatives exchanges by trading volume, while its own shares have not previously been publicly listed.
A major test for India’s capital market
The National Stock Exchange IPO subscription represents more than another large public offering. It gives investors an opportunity to own a stake in one of the central institutions of India’s financial markets.
The NSE IPO 2026 will ultimately be judged not only by its initial subscription response but also by how investors assess NSE’s earnings potential, regulatory environment and ability to sustain trading activity after listing.
With the issue open until September 21, subscription data, investor participation and market conditions will remain the key indicators to watch as NSE moves towards its expected listing.
