MAT 2026 CBT Registration Closes Today as Candidates Prepare for September 20 Exam

The All India Management Association (AIMA) is closing registration for the September 2026 Management Aptitude Test (MAT) Computer-Based Test (CBT) today, September 14. Candidates who have not yet submitted their applications can register through the official MAT website before the application window closes.

The CBT examination is scheduled for September 20, 2026, while admit cards are scheduled to become available from 5 pm on September 17. AIMA’s official schedule does not state a specific closing time for the September 14 registration deadline, so candidates who still intend to apply should complete the process as early as possible.

MAT 2026 CBT application fee

AIMA has set the registration fee for either the Paper-Based Test (PBT) or Computer-Based Test (CBT) at Rs 2,300. Candidates who choose both PBT and CBT can register for the combined option for Rs 4,000.

The September PBT registration window has already closed. The PBT was held on September 13, while the CBT remains scheduled for September 20.

Candidates applying for the CBT need a valid email address, a scanned photograph, and a scanned signature. AIMA says applications can be completed online using payment methods including credit or debit cards, net banking, UPI, and Paytm wallet.

How to apply for MAT 2026 CBT

Candidates can complete the registration process through the official MAT portal. The basic process involves creating or accessing an account, selecting the CBT mode, entering the required details, choosing management institute preferences, uploading the required documents, and paying the application fee.

AIMA’s information for the September 2026 examination says candidates can select five management institutes when applying for a single test mode. Those opting for both PBT and CBT can select up to seven institutes because of the additional institute choices available with the combined registration.

Candidates should also check the admission requirements of individual management institutes before applying. AIMA advises applicants to independently verify whether a particular institute or programme accepts MAT scores.

MAT 2026 CBT exam pattern

The September 2026 MAT consists of 150 questions divided equally across five sections. Each section contains 30 questions, and candidates have 120 minutes to complete the test.

The sections are:

Section Questions
Language Comprehension 30
Intelligence and Critical Reasoning 30
Mathematical Skills 30
Data Analysis and Sufficiency 30
Economic and Business Environment 30
Total 150

The examination carries one mark for every correct answer. AIMA’s September 2026 information also specifies a 0.25-mark deduction for each incorrect answer. Unanswered questions receive zero marks.

The five-section structure applies to the September 2026 MAT and should be distinguished from older versions of the examination that used a different structure and question count.

MAT 2026 eligibility

AIMA states that graduates from any discipline can apply for MAT. Final-year students of graduate courses are also eligible to appear.

MAT is conducted by AIMA as a national-level management entrance examination and is used by participating business schools for admission to MBA and related programmes. AIMA says the test has been administered since 1988 and that its scores are accepted by hundreds of management institutions.

When will the MAT 2026 admit card be released?

For candidates appearing in the September 2026 CBT, AIMA has scheduled admit card availability for September 17 from 5 pm onwards. The admit card will contain details including the candidate’s name, form number, roll number, examination date and time, and test venue.

The CBT itself will be conducted on September 20. AIMA has indicated that the September 2026 MAT score will be made available through the MAT website by the last week of September 2026.

For candidates still seeking to enter the September CBT, September 14 is therefore the key deadline. With the registration window closing today, applications and fee payments should be completed before the deadline rather than left until the final hours.
