Raichur Woman Murder: Sneha Killed With Stone, Toddler Found on Body
RAICHUR, Karnataka — A 25-year-old woman was found critically injured in a field in Karnataka’s Raichur district on Saturday and later died while undergoing treatment, with police suspecting that she had been attacked with a stone.
The woman was identified as Sneha, a resident of RH Camp-4. She was found in a field on the outskirts of RH Camp-5 in the Sindhanur sub-district, according to a report published by NDTV on September 19.
Her approximately one-and-a-half-year-old daughter was found with her at the scene. The child was reportedly crying and clutching her mother when people discovered them. NDTV reported that the woman was still breathing when police reached the location but later succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
Husband and another man detained
Police have detained two men for questioning in connection with the death: Sneha’s husband, identified as Amit, and a man identified as Shubham, whom police are investigating in relation to an alleged relationship with the victim.
According to the preliminary information reported by NDTV, Sneha had been married to Amit for about four years. Police are also examining an alleged relationship between Sneha and Shubham that reportedly began around four months ago.
The nature of the relationship and whether it had any connection to the killing remain matters for investigators to establish. Neither man’s involvement in the killing should be treated as established at this stage simply because they have been detained for questioning.
Police investigating circumstances of death
Sindhanur Rural Police reached the location after receiving information about the incident and began investigating.
The initial police suspicion is that Sneha was beaten with a stone. Her body was subsequently shifted to Sindhanur Taluk Hospital for a post-mortem examination, which is expected to help establish the precise cause and circumstances of her death.
The investigation was still underway as of Saturday evening, and publicly available reporting had not established who carried out the fatal assault or what the final motive was.
Another report published Saturday also said Sneha’s husband and Shubham had been detained, but some details about the woman’s age and circumstances differ across early reports. For that reason, this report relies primarily on the more detailed account published by NDTV and avoids presenting disputed details as confirmed facts.
What remains unknown
Several key questions remain unanswered.
Police have not publicly established, based on the information currently available, who delivered the fatal blows, whether more than one person was involved, or what prompted the attack.
The exact sequence of events leading to Sneha being found in the field is also unclear. Investigators will need to establish how she reached the location, what happened there, and who was responsible for her injuries.
The post-mortem examination and further police investigation are expected to provide additional evidence.
The circumstances surrounding Sneha’s young daughter are also likely to form part of the investigation, although publicly available reports have not provided detailed information about the child’s care arrangements following the incident.
For now, the case remains under investigation, with the two detained men being questioned and forensic and medical findings still pending.
