Vivo V80 Brings ZEISS Cameras, 144Hz OLED Display to India
Vivo will launch the Vivo V80 in India on October 6 at 12 pm IST, bringing the company’s latest V-Series smartphone to the market with a focus on cameras, battery capacity, and display performance. Vivo has already confirmed several specifications through its India product page, although the phone’s price has not yet been announced.
The V80 will be positioned as the successor to the Vivo V70, which launched in India earlier this year. The new handset will be available in Sunrise Anthem, Horizon Blue and Stellar Black colour options. Vivo has also confirmed that the phone will be sold through its website, Amazon, Flipkart and offline retail channels following the launch.
ZEISS cameras remain central to the V80
Photography is one of the main areas Vivo is highlighting with the V80.
The phone has a 50-megapixel ZEISS OIS main camera using Sony’s LYTIA 700V sensor, paired with a 50-megapixel ZEISS Night Telephoto camera based on Sony’s IMX882 sensor. The telephoto camera supports optical image stabilisation and 3x optical zoom, while Vivo says the system can reach up to 100x zoom. A ZEISS ultra-wide camera completes the rear setup.
On the front, the V80 has a 50-megapixel ZEISS Group Selfie camera with autofocus and a 92-degree field of view. Vivo is also promoting 4K cinematic video recording and 4K video capture at 60 frames per second.
The company has added several software-based imaging features, including AI Creative Camera, Live Sticker Collage and AI Diwali Portrait 2.0. Vivo says the handset will have more than 30 AI-powered creative features, although the availability of individual features can vary by region and software version.
7,200mAh battery and 90W charging
The V80’s battery is another major change. Vivo has confirmed a 7,200mAh typical-capacity battery, which it describes as the largest battery used in a V-Series smartphone launched in India. The rated capacity is 7,015mAh.
The phone supports 90W FlashCharge. Vivo’s laboratory figures indicate up to 14 hours of navigation and up to 39.5 hours of local video playback under its specified test conditions. The company also says the battery can reach 50% charge in 30 minutes using its fast-charging mode. Actual battery life and charging times will depend on usage and other conditions.
144Hz 1.5K OLED display
The Vivo V80 features a 6.59-inch 1.5K OLED display with a refresh rate of up to 144Hz. Vivo lists support for 1.07 billion colours and a local peak brightness of up to 5,000 nits.
The company says the 144Hz refresh rate is supported only by selected applications, so users should not expect every app to operate at the maximum refresh rate. The display also includes an ultra-low 1-nit brightness mode for nighttime use.
The screen has 1.25mm bezels, while the rear of the phone uses what Vivo calls a one-piece cold-carved glass design with a floating camera module.
OriginOS 7 and Android 17
The Vivo V80 will be the first V-Series smartphone to ship with OriginOS 7 based on Android 17, according to Vivo and reporting from Indian technology publications.
Vivo is also promising up to six years of extended security updates. The company says the six years are calculated from the product’s initial global launch date, with availability and duration potentially varying by model and market.
The new software brings features such as Pet Pals, Snap Note and Security Shield. Snap Note can turn photographs of whiteboards or notes into editable structured documents, while Security Shield is designed to provide protection against scams and intrusions.
Chipset and price remain key unanswered details
Vivo has not yet officially disclosed the V80’s processor or Indian pricing.
The phone has appeared in benchmark and certification-related reports with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, but that specification remains unconfirmed by Vivo and should therefore be treated as reported information rather than a confirmed specification.
Pricing is also still unknown. Several reports have published estimates around the ₹60,000 mark, but those figures are not official and should not be treated as the final retail price.
Vivo is expected to provide the remaining commercial details at the October 6 launch event.
For now, the confirmed picture is of a V-Series phone built around ZEISS imaging, a large battery, a high-refresh-rate OLED panel, and Vivo’s latest software. The final price and processor will determine where the V80 sits in India’s premium smartphone market.
