The India Asian Games 2026 campaign surges with five gold medals, including Lovlina Borgohain gold, as India reaches 75 medals in Aichi-Nagoya.

AICHI-NAGOYA: India produced a remarkable five-gold haul on Day 13 of the Asian Games 2026, with victories in boxing, wrestling and archery taking the country’s overall medal tally to 75. The surge moved India to fifth place in the standings, with 15 gold, 25 silver and 35 bronze medals.

The day’s biggest individual results came from boxers Lovlina Borgohain, Parveen Hooda and Ankush Panghal, wrestler Sujeet Kalkal and the women’s recurve archery team. The performance gave the India Asian Games 2026 campaign one of its strongest single-day medal runs.

Lovlina Borgohain Leads India’s Boxing Gold Rush

Lovlina Borgohain secured gold in the women’s 75kg category after defeating China’s Bao Ziyi 5-0 in the final. The victory was particularly significant for the Indian boxer, who had previously won silver at the 2022 Asian Games.

The Lovlina Borgohain gold was followed by another Indian victory in women’s boxing. Parveen Hooda defeated Chinese Taipei’s Nien-Chin Chen 3-2 in the 65kg final, giving India its second boxing gold of the day.

Ankush Panghal completed India’s boxing sweep by winning the men’s 80kg final against South Korea’s Kim Minseong. His victory gave India three boxing gold medals on the day.

The results add another chapter to India’s recent run of strong performances across major sporting events, following the country’s Junior Asia Cup hockey campaign.

Sujeet Kalkal Completes Wrestling Gold

Sujeet Kalkal produced a major comeback in the men’s 65kg freestyle final, recovering from a 4-9 deficit to defeat Tajikistan’s Abdulmazhid Kudiev 10-9.

The victory made Kalkal the third Indian wrestler to win Asian Games gold in the men’s 65kg category, following Yogeshwar Dutt and Bajrang Punia.

His triumph added the fourth Indian gold of the day and pushed the India Asian Games 2026 campaign further up the medal table.

Women’s Recurve Team Makes History

India’s fifth gold came from the women’s recurve archery team. Ankita Bhakat, Kirti Sharma and Kumkum Mohod defeated South Korea 5-3 in the final to claim India’s maiden Asian Games gold in the event.

The result was especially notable because South Korea entered the final as the reigning world champions. India also won silver in the mixed recurve team event during the same day.

India Reaches 75 Medals

The five gold medals lifted India’s total to 75, comprising 15 gold, 25 silver and 35 bronze medals. India moved into fifth position in the overall standings after the day’s results.

The Lovlina Borgohain gold, three boxing victories, Kalkal’s wrestling comeback and the historic archery triumph gave India a broad-based medal haul rather than a performance concentrated in one discipline.

With the competition continuing in Aichi-Nagoya, the India Asian Games 2026 campaign now enters its closing stages with India firmly among the leading medal-winning nations.
