Delhi-Samastipur Bus Bursts Into Flames, All 32 Passengers Escape Safely

GREATER NOIDA: A Delhi-Samastipur sleeper bus caught fire in the Knowledge Park police station area of Greater Noida on October 6, triggering a rapid evacuation as flames spread through the vehicle. All 32 passengers were safely evacuated, and no deaths or injuries were reported.

The Greater Noida Bus Fire happened while the private bus was travelling from New Delhi towards Samastipur in Bihar. Police teams from the Sector 148 area responded after receiving information about the blaze and brought the fire under control.

Greater Noida Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Abhay Kumar Mishra confirmed that all 32 passengers were safely evacuated and that arrangements were being made to help them continue their journey.

Short Circuit Suspected Near Engine

Police said preliminary accounts from passengers indicated that the fire may have started near the engine because of a short circuit. However, the suspected electrical fault has not been established as the confirmed cause.

Mishra said an investigation was underway and that further action would depend on its findings. Legal proceedings will also follow if the investigation establishes any violation.

The Delhi Samastipur Bus was carrying passengers when the fire broke out, but everyone managed to leave the vehicle safely before the situation became more dangerous.

The incident comes after another serious road accident in the same region involving a bus, adding to recent concerns about passenger safety on long-distance routes. Earlier this year, a separate Greater Noida road accident resulted in one death and left another person critically injured.

Passengers Evacuated As Fire Spreads

The police response prevented the incident from becoming a mass-casualty event. Firefighting personnel worked to contain the blaze after passengers had been moved away from the burning vehicle.

The Greater Noida Bus Fire completely damaged the bus, according to reports, while officials focused on ensuring that the passengers could safely continue their trip to Bihar.

No passenger casualty has been reported in connection with Tuesday’s incident.

The fire also comes less than two weeks after a much deadlier bus blaze on the Yamuna Expressway, where nine passengers were killed on September 23 after another air-conditioned double-decker bus caught fire.

Investigation Into Fire Underway

Authorities have not yet announced a final determination on what caused the latest blaze. The short-circuit theory remains based on preliminary passenger accounts and should not be treated as a confirmed finding.

According to the Economic Times, police said the investigation would determine the exact cause and whether further legal action was required.

The Delhi Samastipur Bus passengers were subsequently assisted with arrangements for onward travel. Police are expected to examine the vehicle and other available evidence as part of the investigation.

For now, the key confirmed fact is that all 32 people aboard the bus escaped safely despite the vehicle catching fire. The investigation will determine how the blaze began and whether any safety or regulatory violations contributed to the incident.
