Yuvraj Manchanda Murder: ₹90 Lakh Cheque, Fake Threat and Alleged Plot to Kill Adani Realty Manager

1

DELHI: A ₹90 lakh post-dated cheque, a fabricated threat and an alleged plan to obtain money have emerged as key details in the investigation into the Yuvraj Manchanda Murder. Delhi Police allege that Anya Vats and her live-in partner, Sanyam Sachdeva, planned the killing of Manchanda, a manager at Adani Realty, after Vats faced financial pressure linked to a separate cheating case.

₹90 Lakh Cheque At Centre Of Probe

According to The Indian Express, police allege that Vats and Sachdeva had previously been accused of cheating a senior Punjab National Bank official of ₹1.25 crore using forged Enforcement Directorate notices.

Police said the official sought an out-of-court settlement and demanded a post-dated cheque for ₹90 lakh. Investigators allege that Vats did not have enough money to honour the cheque and subsequently began looking for another way to raise the funds.

The alleged Contract Killing Plot is being investigated against this financial background. Police claim Vats had learned about Manchanda’s finances after reconnecting with her former colleague.

Fake Threat Allegedly Used To Recruit Partner

Investigators allege that Vats created a false threat from a supposed senior official and showed the messages to Sachdeva. Police claim the messages were actually sent by Vats herself using another number.

According to the investigation, she allegedly told Sachdeva that Manchanda had to be killed so that his money could be taken to settle the financial dispute. The alleged Contract Killing Plot therefore involved a fabricated threat intended to convince Sachdeva that the killing was necessary.

The police version remains an allegation, and the claims against the accused have not been established in court.

Manchanda Was Allegedly Lured To Gurugram

Manchanda, 31, had been preparing for his wedding and was also considering buying a home. Police allege that Vats contacted him on September 6 and told him about a potential real-estate client who wanted to invest through Adani Realty.

Manchanda left a family lunch in Lajpat Nagar and travelled to Gurugram, where police allege he entered Vats’s white Creta in Sector 70. Investigators say Vats and Sachdeva then shot him inside the vehicle.

The latest account adds another layer to the messages sent from Manchanda’s phone, which had previously raised questions about what happened after his disappearance.

Body Dumped And Phone Used After Death

Police allege that the accused covered Manchanda’s body with bedsheets and kept it in the vehicle before disposing of it in a drain in Badshahpur.

Investigators further allege that Vats used Manchanda’s phone to send messages to his family after his death. The messages reportedly told relatives that he was fine and suggested he might travel to Bengaluru.

His family filed a missing-person complaint on September 11. Police later connected the case to a body recovered from Gurugram, although the body had already been cremated before Manchanda’s identity was established.

Investigation Continues Into The Alleged Murder Plot

The investigation into the Yuvraj Manchanda Murder is continuing, with police examining the alleged financial motive, communications between the accused and Manchanda, the weapon recovered during the arrests and the events surrounding the disposal of the body.

The Adani Realty Manager was allegedly targeted because investigators believe Vats knew about his financial position. Police are also examining the wider cheating allegations involving the accused.

The Adani Realty Manager case remains under investigation, and the alleged Contract Killing Plot described by police will ultimately have to be tested through the legal process.
