Control Resonant Heads Toward Launch With New Dylan Faden Trailer

Control Resonant Heads Toward Launch With New Dylan Faden Trailer

Remedy Entertainment has released a new launch trailer for Control Resonant, putting the spotlight on Dylan Faden and the supernatural crisis at the center of the upcoming sequel.

The trailer arrives less than a week before the game’s worldwide digital release on September 24. Control Resonant will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store.

The new footage shows Dylan fighting through a distorted version of Manhattan as reality itself becomes increasingly unstable. The trailer also highlights the character’s paranormal abilities and the different forms of his shapeshifting weapon, the Aberrant. Remedy has paired the footage with The Cardigans’ song “My Favourite Game.”

Dylan Faden takes the lead

Control Resonant follows Dylan Faden, the brother of Jesse Faden, who was at the center of the 2019 game Control.

The sequel moves the action beyond the Oldest House and into a warped Manhattan affected by a new supernatural crisis. Dylan is deployed by the Federal Bureau of Control as the organization attempts to deal with a threat that is altering the fabric of reality.

That change also extends to the game’s combat. Rather than continuing Jesse’s primarily ranged approach from the original Control, Dylan relies heavily on close-quarters fighting and the Aberrant, a weapon that can change form during combat.

Remedy’s lead gameplay designer Sergey Mohov previously said the new combat system was designed around close-range encounters involving attacks, stagger mechanics, status effects, and carefully timed dodges. The developer has also introduced an expanded Assist Mode that allows players to adjust individual elements of the experience rather than simply selecting from conventional difficulty levels.

A larger, stranger Manhattan

The sequel’s setting represents another major departure from the first game.

Instead of keeping players largely within the mysterious Oldest House, Control Resonant takes them into a supernatural version of Manhattan. PlayStation’s September 18 hands-on report describes a city filled with altered environments, dimension shifts, and strange encounters, while noting that Remedy has expanded the scale of the original game’s paranatural concept.

Recent previews have also focused on the game’s action-RPG structure and its emphasis on exploration, character progression, and supernatural combat. The shift means Resonant is not simply a continuation of the original game’s formula, even though it remains rooted in the same universe.

When does Control Resonant release?

Control Resonant will be released digitally worldwide on September 24, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. The game is also scheduled to support GeForce NOW at launch.

Physical editions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S are scheduled to follow on October 15.

The standard edition is listed at $59.99, with regional pricing varying by market. A Digital Deluxe Edition is listed at $69.99 and includes additional digital content. PlayStation’s Digital Deluxe Edition also includes 48-hour early access.

A Mac version is planned for later in 2026 through Steam and the App Store.

Reviews arrive before launch

The September 18 trailer release coincides with the arrival of reviews and technical coverage ahead of launch.

PC-focused testing published on September 18 has examined the game’s performance and graphics settings, including support for ray tracing, path tracing, NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 and AMD FSR 4.

PlayStation has also published a hands-on report covering the full game ahead of its September 24 release.

The game’s launch therefore comes with a substantial amount of information already available about its setting, combat system and technical features, although players will soon be able to experience the full story for themselves.

For Remedy, the immediate focus now shifts from promotion to release. Control Resonant is scheduled to arrive digitally on September 24, with the physical versions following in October.
