OPPO A7 Pro 5G Launches With 8,000mAh Battery and IP69K

OPPO has launched the A7 Pro 5G in China, adding another large-battery smartphone to its A-series lineup. The phone combines an 8,000mAh battery with a 6.57-inch 120Hz OLED display, MediaTek’s Dimensity 6360 Max chipset, and up to 8GB of RAM.

The handset is currently available for pre-order in China. OPPO’s Chinese online store lists the phone in 6GB+256GB and 8GB+256GB configurations, priced at CNY 2,199 and CNY 2,499 respectively. Shipments are scheduled to begin on September 11.

A large battery is the main attraction

The A7 Pro uses an 8,000mAh single-cell battery and supports 45W SuperVOOC charging. OPPO says the battery is designed for long-term use, with its own laboratory testing estimating at least 80% capacity retention after about 2,000 charging cycles under specified conditions.

That claim comes with an important qualification. OPPO’s published testing assumes one complete charge-discharge cycle every 1.3 days at laboratory temperatures of 25±2 degrees Celsius. The company also says actual battery life and degradation will vary according to usage and environmental conditions.

The phone weighs about 205 grams and measures 8.8mm thick, according to specifications reported after the launch. That makes the device relatively substantial, although the dimensions are not unusual for a phone carrying an 8,000mAh battery.

120Hz OLED display and Dimensity 6360 Max

The A7 Pro has a 6.57-inch flexible OLED display with a 2,372 x 1,080-pixel resolution. The panel supports a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and touch sampling of up to 240Hz, while peak brightness is rated at 1,400 nits.

Power comes from MediaTek’s Dimensity 6360 Max processor, paired with LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. The top configuration carries 8GB of RAM. OPPO also includes a 4,300-square-millimetre vapor-chamber cooling system for thermal management.

The software is Android 16 with OPPO’s ColorOS 16 interface. The company has included AI-based fraud protection features, including warnings for suspected scam calls and tools designed to detect certain face-swap scams.

IP69K protection

Durability is another central part of the A7 Pro’s design. OPPO says the phone achieves an IP69K protection level under controlled laboratory testing, alongside IP69, IP68 and IP66 ratings under Chinese testing standards.

The IP69K designation is intended for equipment exposed to powerful, high-temperature water jets. OPPO markets the A7 Pro as both water-resistant and resistant to accidental drops, with what it calls a diamond protection architecture.

The ratings should not be interpreted as a guarantee that the phone can withstand every type of liquid exposure or physical accident. OPPO’s own specifications make clear that the protection was established under controlled conditions.

Camera setup

For photography, the A7 Pro has a 50-megapixel main rear camera with an f/1.9 aperture and autofocus. The front camera is an 8-megapixel unit with an f/2.1 aperture. The rear camera supports up to 10x digital zoom.

Connectivity includes 5G, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC and USB Type-C. The phone also has an optical fingerprint sensor built into the display, facial recognition, and an infrared remote-control function.

Price and availability

In China, the OPPO A7 Pro starts at CNY 2,199 for 6GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The 8GB+256GB version costs CNY 2,499. The Chinese retail listing identifies three colour options, marketed in translated names as Desert Brown, Every Step Blossoms and Riding the Waves.

The phone is scheduled to begin shipping on September 11 in China. There is no confirmed international or Indian launch for the A7 Pro at the time of publication.

That distinction is particularly relevant for Indian buyers. OPPO has separately confirmed that an F35 series is coming to India this month, but the company has not confirmed that the A7 Pro will be sold there under the same name or specifications. Current reports have linked the forthcoming F35 lineup more closely to the A7 Pro Max, rather than confirming an A7 Pro rebrand.

For now, the A7 Pro is a China launch, with its unusually large battery, high-durability rating and OLED display forming the core of its pitch. Its international availability remains the main unanswered question.
